Jay Delsing: Pro Golfer
Jay Delsing is a professional PGA golfer. He was born in Missouri, but played college golf at UCLA, where he was on the team with Corey Pavin, Tom Pernice Jr., Steve Pate, and Duffy Waldorf. As a young teen, he discovered golf and truly excelled at the sport. At the age of 16, Delsing was presented the Dutch Harrison Stroke Average Championship trophy by Dutch Harrison himself. Jay Delsing had tallied the lowest average score in the Gateway PGA Junior Program – a 70.2, very impressive for the junior tournaments. He excelled on the UCLA team, and eventually went pro after school, being an active player until even today. He stuck around and kept playing, but he was basically always in the middle of the pack and never able to see his game really take off and shine like he wanted.
Jay is an extremely hard worker, though, and he never quits. Throughout his PGA career, Jay Delsing finished tied for 2nd at the 1993 New England Classic and at the 1995 FedEx St. Jude Classic. As for his national tours, Jay Delsing has won the Buy.com Fort Smith Classic in 2001 and the Omaha Classic 2002.
Jay Delsing has improved his long game by leaps and bounds since working with Jim Hardy on his swing. Jim Hardy’s insistence that Delsing revamp his swing and focus on the one plane swing allowed Jay to make enormous strides in his game. Before working on his swing, Jay gave a lot of credit to his immense Christian faith. His faith got him through difficult times, but he realized that relying on it and ignoring the glaring problems in his game would never allow him to progress any further. Now, he combines that faith with a strict adherence to the principles of the one plane swing espoused by Jim Hardy, and his game has never been better.
